We had so much fun carving pumpkins on Sunday! This year I decided to kick it up a notch with a bunch of autumn themed sweet treats. Several of these were easy enough that you could even grab them last minute for any pumpkin carving this week – or heck, just serve them up for fun! Having a kid in the house with a peanut allergy usually has us looking for ways to add fun treats that are safe for occasions when everyone has treats that aren’t necessarily ok. Knowing he has special stuff at home, he has absolutely no problem saying, “No, thank you,” when someone passes the peanut butter cups.
Dipped pretzels in candy corn colors. We saw these in the halloween treat aisle this year, but they were a not go for the peanut allergy. Fortunately, I’ve found one brand of candy coating that’s safe (plymouth pantry). I’m just always sure to double check labels. A little bit of candy coloring made them more festive. Just be sure to use coloring specifically for candy melts, like these.
Mummy cupcakes and pumpkin shaped cookies. I used my best chocolate cupcake + buttercream recipe from my old blog. They’re so good and I crave them every year around this time! The candy eyeballs are another Wilton find.
The carmel corn is another family recipe that my mom has passed along from my childhood. I just topped it with more chocolate candy melts. Yuummm.
For drinks, the boys enjoyed flying cauldron butterscotch beer . I found ours at Whole Foods’ Trick or Treat block party. So yummy.
And no gathering is complete without a little something for the adults, too! I had tried a sip of this Fulton’s Harvest Apple Pie and was completely shocked by how good it tasted! It totally reminded me of an apple cider version of Baileys.
Hope everyone’s enjoying lots of fun autumn/Halloween activities this week!
