I wanted to check in for a moment, catch my breath, and catch you up on everything going on! The past couple of years has been and continues to be an amazing journey. I’m still working on bluebird chic, juggling being a homeschool mom, and working to grow my art skills and opportunities.
Many of you know that we homeschool as a family, and as the boys have grown, we’ve identified changing needs related to homeschooling the upper grades. High school is a BEAST to manage! Last year we tried enrolling in an online program, and to cut a long story short, the online program that we tried piled on more work (hours of video lectures to watch!), resulted in logging tons of screen time, and bogged down two generally very bright and motivated kids. It was a tough year.
But, I always believe that everything happens for a reason, and if we hadn’t encountered the problems that we had last year, we may not have been as open to embracing trying new things. There are seasons for everything in life. So, when my husband and I sat down with our supervising teacher this past summer for our annual evaluation, we discussed the struggle honestly, and told her that we were already exploring different options for this fall.
This fall has been a huge transition and change. We chose a program that felt like a good fit and enrolled them. It’s meant learning a whole new curriculum and system. It’s a lot of work, but one hundred percent worth it. The boys are thriving. They have a community of classmates and tutors that they meet with weekly. It’s an honors program, and they are absolutely rising to the challenge. Add to the mix enrolling as homeschool athletes, and we are one busy family. With all the good things.
In the midst of all of that, I’ve still been working on Bluebird Chic, even though I’m definitely feeling a bit behind as we head into the holiday season! My business and art are hugely important to me – I love how I serve other through the business and absolutely feel called to it! So, now that things are settling in more, you’ll be seeing me around here on a more regular basis. Can’t wait!
