My name is Alexandra, I’m a Mom to 5 and a photographer to many. I currently live in Southeastern Idaho. I am originally from Southern California and also spent 10 wonderful years in the spicy desert of Phoenix Arizona. I consider all three of these places to be home and visit whenever possible. I love to travel and to document my life as well as the lives of others. I currently run two websites; http://theblackandwhiteblog.
How long have you been a photographer?
I have been a photographer for 5 years.
What is the best part of being a photographer?
The best part of being a photographer is making others happy. I’m a strong believer in photos and their power to evoke emotion and document the life lived. It is my hope that all of my images produced will someday be printed and stored or displayed to bring enjoyment to those who happen upon them.
What advice do you have to other women who are thinking of starting their own businesses?
No matter what you do, do it well. I believe you’ll need to lay a solid foundation as a pathway to success and in order to do that you’ll want to learn the basics of your trade and be sure to know the technical aspects of the business before diving into the fun stuff.
What impact do you want your business to have on others?
I always strive to create an emotional impact through images. I want my clients to feel something when they relive their memories.
What kind of camera(s) do you own and what role do they play in your life?
I have always used crop sensor Canon cameras but recently I was gifted a 5D Mark IV for my birthday and I haven’t been able to put it down since receiving it. I love the clarity in the images as well as the flexibility of full frame cameras. I love the fact that I started out with the most basic equipment, it forced me to make it work and to learn how to use light and composition to create beautiful images.
What’s your favorite thing about your bluebird chic strap?
I chose the Pink Floral strap, I thought this would flow nicely with my outfits. I also thought it was presentable for weddings and the bright pretty colors will make any child smile. I use it as a talking piece when getting the little ones to warm up to me.
In Idaho, our spring and summer days are gorgeous and this style mimics our days beautifully. I love the versatility with this strap, I can wear it around my neck, on one shoulder and as a cross body. I have used all three of these styles and each are very comfortable. I also love how pretty the strap is and above all, that it doesn’t broadcast to the world what type of camera I’m using and the model.
