It’s always so amazing to see the work of women who put their heart and soul into their businesses, hobbies, and creative endeavors. The things that catch my eye when looking for my ambassadors – women who work hard, are willing to put themselves out there for what they love and believe in, support other women, and are just, well, all around amazing! Every one of the women on the team are all of these and more, and I’m excited to share a bit about brand ambassador Jessica Diedrich with you today! I love how natural her photos feel – and that she’s been working with actual film again! Read on to learn more about Jessica!
Jessica Diedrich is a full-time photographer specializing in environmental portraiture, lifestyle photography, and stylized/themed sessions for talent and modeling. She resides just 15 minutes east of Nashville, TN with her husband, five children, four dogs, and a generous amount of coffee. She has been featured on various blogs and was named one of the Looks Like Film‘s 2015 Artists of the Year. She was published in the October 2015 issue of Beyond the Wanderlust magazine and enjoys submitting work to National Geographic’s “Your Shot” when time allows. When Jessica isn’t holding her Nikon D750 in hand, she can usually be found holding her 3 year old, a taco, or a Sonic Unsweet Peach tea at happy hour.
How long have you been a photographer?
I started taking photos in 2002. At the time, I had a 3 year old and 1 year old twins and wanted to start scrapbooking.
What made you decide to pursue photography as a career?
I’d say my main goal to this day is documenting moments and milestones for my family. Eventually, I started paying more attention to the type of photos I was taking; composition, lighting, etc. In the summer of 2012 I took my first client and have never looked back!
How has your photography evolved over the years?
My style has evolved SO much over the past few years, but especially within the past year or so. I started working with some film emulation in post processing my digitals and actually started shooting film again, too. I love the look of film- nothing compares to the rich colors, contrast, and tones.
What kind of camera(s) do you own and what role do they play in your life?
Right now I own the Nikon D750. I do all of my client work on this camera and most of my personal work, too. I just got the Fuji x100t though and I am in love for personal work! It literally fits in my purse (attached to my Watercolor Wedding strap ; ) and it’s perfect for travel, on-the-go w/ my five kids ,etc. I never have to miss a moment now and I LOVE it.
Which is your favorite bluebird chic strap?
Gosh, I’d say my favorite strap in the shop is the Be Bold strap, but right now, I am rocking some Golden Leaves because you know, a girl can never have too many camera scarves to rotate season to season! HELLOOOOOOOO fall! ; )
