Hi there, I’m Jessica! I am a wedding and portrait photographer, and the owner of Jessica Lynn Photography. I married the man of my dreams in June of 2014, and together we have two children and two Doberman Pinschers! When I’m not working my regular full-time job, you can find me somewhere with my camera in hand!
How long have you been a photographer?
I’ve always loved cameras and the art of photography, but I’ve been professionally shooting for three years. We established business in 2014, and this was our second wedding season! This year was excellent for business, and I am so excited to see what next year has in store for us!
What made you decide to pursue photography?
My husband purchased for me, my first professional camera right before the birth of our daughter in 2014. Had he not done this for me as a birthday present, I’m not sure if I ever would have pursued the idea of opening my business! Once I found my niche in the industry, I began advertising for family sessions, weddings, etc.
What impact do you want your business to have on others?
This is more than just a job to me, it’s my career, and it’s my passion. I love feeling the happiness during sessions and weddings. I do express to all my clients, the importance of having family portraits taken at least once a year because, well, life is just too short. When I was 18 years old, I lost my mother unexpectedly. Right before her funeral, we could only come up with a handful of photos of her from years prior, and in most photos, she was covering up her face! I ALWAYS do my best to make my clients feel the most comfortable during sessions, and see that it’s not so bad to be on the opposite side of the camera. Always include yourself in photos!
Which of your business achievements are you most proud of and why?
I recently was asked to be an attendee at a workshop in Cannon Beach, Oregon. We traveled from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to attend this amazing two-day workshop that was hosted by a Canadian photographer (Katie Nicolle). Katie had reached out to us via Instagram to attend her workshop on the opposite side of the country! To be asked by the host to attend their own workshop, is an honor! I learned new styles of photography, which helped evolve my business almost overnight! We’ve also partnered with The Knot, and WeddingWire, which we’re very excited about!
What is the best part of being a photographer?
I love presenting clients with their beautiful finished products and seeing them so happy! All the hard work seriously pays off whenever you see your clients smile, because they’re just so excited! It doesn’t matter if you’re a photographer that solely photographs family sessions, or that photographs only weddings, it’s amazing to be a part of such precious moments in peoples’ lives. I can’t even contain my own excitement while photographing a wedding! These are images that can’t be staged or even posed. To be the one to capture someone’s feelings in one picture, is breathtaking! I think that this has been the biggest blessing to me—seeing so many people happy in the photos that I take for them!
What’s your favorite thing about your bluebird chic strap?
I love the neutral, but bold colors of my strap. The browns, reds, and blues all come together in this piece to make one adorable scarf camera strap! PLUS it literally saves my neck! I can’t even begin to explain how blessed I am to finally have found a camera strap that doesn’t chafe or leave marks on the back of my neck!
