This week’s ambassador spotlight shines a light on Kimi Coopet of Oh Hello! Photo Read on to find out more about Kimi, see some of her work, and which bluebird chic strap is her personal favorite! (For this week, her pick will be available at a discounted rate in the shop.)
Kimi Coopet is a coffee addict & photographer out of St. Paul, Minnesota. Her company Oh Hello! Photo specializes in family and child photography. Outside of her passion for photography she is a wife and mother to three kids. She loves to craft but isn’t sure she is nailing or failing her Pinterest finds. If she isn’t taking photos or crafting she is indulging in her love of junk food and watching comedies, all while snuggling one of her three dogs.
How long have you been a photographer?
Over 11 years! However before that I was just a girl who loved to take photos.
What made you decide to pursue photography?
It wasn’t just one thing, it was the years of shooting that made me realize that I could actually do this as a career. I am thankful to have so much support around me that gave me the push to follow my dream.
How has your photography evolved over the years?
I have dabbled in every kind of photography. I needed to try everything to figure out what I loved best. It’s kids. Kids are honest and they are weird. They don’t care what people think of them and they are comfortable in their own skin. It took me many years to figure out what I wanted to spend my days photographing but I think it was important for me to take that path. The journey is what made me the photographer I am today.
What impact do you want your business to have on others?
Honestly, I just want people to love what they see. I want them to feel the same emotional that I feel when I see them. I want them to laugh at the silly photos and enjoy the real life just as much as I do. I hope it inspires others to take more photos to.
Which of your business achievements are you most proud of and why?
Over the summer I took a mission trip to Honduras. Part of my trip was paid for so I could take pictures of the amazing experiences we had. I never in a million years thought that my photography would take me to another part of the world. It is so far outside of my comfort zone. I have been published a few times before this trip but there is nothing like capturing the world that will change you. I look at those photos and I am still in awe of what I was able to do. I really hope that inspires people to do something they normally wouldn’t do.
What’s the best part of being a photographer?
The best part of being a photographer is being able to freeze time. It sounds cheesy but it’s true. The days are long but the years are short. Our memories fade but the photos won’t.
What kind of camera(s) do you own and what role does it play in your life?
I own several cameras but the one I shoot with daily is a Nikon D3. It isn’t the newest model & that’s okay because the camera isn’t the artist, I am. My camera does play a HUGE role in my everyday life because I shoot everyday. I am on year 4 of documenting my everyday life. It definitely changes they way you shoot and you learn so much.
What’s your favorite thing about your bluebird chic strap?
It’s totally me because it matches my hair. 😉 But really, I just wanted something light, classy but also fun. This is the perfect combo.
I love it because it’s a walking piece of art. I am not a boring black strap kind of girl. I want something more fun. Something with a wow factor and this strap is it!
