I’m Lydia Gibson, a 16-year-old with a huge passion for documenting her everyday. I live with my mum, dad and younger sister in a small country town in south-east Queensland, Australia. I currently love to document my every day life through my love of photography and scrapbooking. Visit me at Lydia’s Craft N’Creations.
How long have you been a scrapbooker and photographer?
I have been creative ever since I could hold a stamp and have only taken my creativity further with starting to be on design teams sharing my projects and layouts starting when I was 13 and within the last 3-4 years. I have also loved takin photos and using my mums camera so I love to be the on behind the lens. I have only taken my photography further this last year after I had some work experience with a portrait and newborn photographer and have now just started to do some photoshoots.
What made you decide to pursue scrapbooking and photography?
The memories documented. Since having a love of taking photos and being behind the camera I love to print the images and document the memories and stories into albums to be able to look back on my teen years in future years to come. I also love the creativity that both scrapbooking and photography can give me.
How has your scrapbooking and photography evolved over the years?
I started out with stamps and that evolved into single and double paged layouts which then progressed into Project Life and pocket scrapbooking and now after finding my style and comfort I am now back to single layouts with the few pocket scrapbooking pages and some mixed media thrown in there. As for my photography, I had always and still am a happy snapper and will take photos of basically anything that catches my eye through the lens, but after having fabulous work experience I have evolved into portraiture and food photographer. I am defiantly a lover of small details and macros.
What impact do you want your scrapbooking and photography to have on others?
I want both my scrapbooking and photography to influence others to hold the moments and memories with photographs to be able to look back on future years. Through my scrapbooking I am a lover of printing those everyday moments and documenting them in albums and knowing that the images are not just sitting on my computer but are in scrapbooks that I myself have made, makes my heart happy.
Which of your business achievements are you most proud of and why?
I am defiantly most proud of my how I am already starting my career as a photographer and scrapbooker by sharing my projects and images at only the age of 16 years old. If you would have asked me 1-3 years ago when I started to take my creativity further if I was going to be starting to do portrait photoshoots I would have said no and as for my scrapbooking I am most proud of how far my projects have come over the last few years with the help of being on over 5 national and international design teams.
What kind of camera(s) do you own and what role does it play in your life?
Well as a teenager and having my creative space in my bedroom I am a lover of vintage finds. So in my room you will find camera from box brownies, instamatics right up to my everyday Canon 1300D with a 18-55mm kit lens. (I’m currently saving for a nifty fifty). You can find me nearly everywhere I go, I will have my trusty Canon 1300D with me.
What’s your favorite thing about your bluebird chic strap?
I just love how black goes with everything and I love a minimalist look. My favorite thing though is how comfortable my strap is. I look forward to using it all of the time!
