Today I’m excited to share a handmade holiday project by ambassador Tricia Romo of Made with Love Crafter.
Tricia Romo is a Navy wife and mom of 3. Documenting life is incredibly important to her. She has been scrapbooking for years and more recently started using a traveler’s notebook to journal and scrapbook in. She is on the planner design team at Cocoa Daisy and is a teacher at Big Picture Classes. Photography has become more than a passion to her, it has become the extension of her memories that her family will cherish for years.
MY DECEMBER DAILY
One of my favorite projects in December is my December Daily Album! It combines two of my favorite things; photography and scrapbooking. It’s also one of my favorite projects to look back on. We always sit down as a family and flip through the old albums and smile and laugh at the memories. In the past, I’ve always done a small scrapbook album. It allows me to easily add photos and keeps them nice and safe. I try to take at least one photo a day the entire month. I document everything, not just the big events.
Here is a peek into my 2013 album, one of my favorite years.
I’m more of a hobby photographer, but December gives me an excuse to use my nice camera every day! I use a Canon 6D with my 50mm lens all month long. It gives me so much joy to capture all of those memories and be creative at the same time.
My favorite thing to do each day is play with prospective. I love trying to get down on my kids level and see life through their eyes.
Having a scrapbook type album also allows you to add pieces of memorabilia to your days. Take a scrap of ribbon from the day you do your wrapping and add it to a photo, or have your kids draw a picture for one of the pockets. I also like to keep things like the Christmas farm map and add them in.
I think it’s important to capture the everyday things too, not just the big events. It’s fun to look back on the funny things, like when my daughter wasn’t having it when I put a Santa hat on her. It’s also nice to document the simple days where you can sit with your coffee and look out on the snow falling.
And then some days I just do a simple art journal page with no photos!
And every year I always include a nice Bokeh shot of the Christmas tree!
I hope I was able to inspire you to try a December Daily album this year. Even if you just take one photo every day and add them to an album with no decoration I promise you it will be something your family will cherish for years to come.
Thanks for sharing your December Daily efforts with us Tricia, and happy holiday making to you all!
