It’s always so amazing to see the work of women who put their heart and soul into their businesses, hobbies, and creative endeavors. The things that catch my eye when looking for my ambassadors – women who work hard, are willing to put themselves out there for what they love and believe in, support other women, and are just, well, all around amazing! Every one of the women on my team are all of these and more.
Today I’m excited to share a little bit about our December Guest Ambassador Marie-Pierre Capistran. As you might remember, she was the grand prize winner of the Where’s Your Chic Contest we held earlier this fall. I had so much fun with that contest and I was pleased that Marie-Pierre took the time to share her bluebird chic strap’s travels with us and I even more pleased to share more about her with you today!

How long have you been scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking in 2008 when I was pregnant with my first daughter – so I guess it’s been 8 years now.
What made you decide to pursue scrapbooking as a career?
Scrapbooking was combining my love of art, pretty papers, words, stories and photos so it quickly became my only passion. I also loved the scrapbooking community. It was super fun to learn and share and meet like minded people online and in real life!
How has your scrapbooking evolved over the years?
When I started scrapbooking, I quickly knew that I wanted to work in the industry. It took many years to find my voice and my style. Taking classes at the beginning, participating in contests and making lots and lots of pages helped me find who I was as a scrapbooker. Now I know that there’s no page going into my album without a story and some sort of journaling. I also know that the pages I like most are the ones where I was creative enough to think outside of the box and invent something that has never been seen before. I like to add lots of details to my pages: stitching, fussy cutting, layering, watercolor painting. I love to scrapbook 12×12 layouts, but I also do Project Life in form of pocket pages, because that’s what my husband appreciate most. This year was my 6th year of doing Project Life! I also love doing a December Daily album every year. I love seing the growth of our family over the years in these smaller albums, and I love that not only us, but also my parents and my brother and his family are in there.
When I first started scrapbooking I dreamed that it might turn into something more. Now I am excited to be designing my own collections for Pretty Little Studio. Here is a look at my latest collection, Winter Joy.
What kind of camera(s) do you own and what role do they play in your life?
My camera is an Olympus E-M10. I love it because it’s compact and yet gives me pictures that are close to DSLR quality. Because it is so small, I have it with me all the time! I also carry my iPhone everywhere and very often it’s what I use to take my everyday pictures.
What is your favorite thing about your bluebird chic strap?
I now own two Blue Bird Chic straps. The first one is the Watercolor Wedding Padded Strap. It is very special to me because it is a gift I received from a dear friend when I moved to Europe. Every time I wear it, I remember how blessed and appreciated I am! It is also very soft and comfortable and it makes wearing my camera so enjoyable. In fact, my 8 year old daughter also wants one! The second strap I own is the Grey Skies Autumn Weather Scarf Strap. I love that the scarf takes very little space in my purse so I can carry my camera everywhere. I also love the neutral color and the subtle prints which makes me think of scrapbooking paper I would use on my layouts. That just makes me happy!
