We’ve always had lots of tradition surrounding our holiday activities – not because we have to stick with doing something a certain way, but because those traditions have come to give extra special meaning to the time we spend together.
Throughout the holiday season this year I want a highlight a couple of traditions that we have as a family. Hopefully by sharing our traditions, you’ll gain ideas and inspiration to make this time of year even more special than it already is.
For our holiday tree trimming each year, we typically pick the first weekend in December to set aside an evening to be together. By setting aside time to do the decorating as a family, we’ve made the activity itself into a tradition. I love that our kids associate the tree with family time – not just Christmas. Each year the boys do more of the work themselves, and we take on more and more of an advisory role, which has gotten fun! We always play Christmas carols, and share our favorite holiday drink together. {I’ll be sharing the recipe later this week and I can’t wait!}
By incorporating a little tradition, we’ve made this into a magical time for our family each year!
Happy weekend! ^_^

My four kids have practically high jacked the whole decorating process. ( I’m now the one left to put all the decorations away in the appropriate boxes.) I don’t really mind, it’s so fun to watch them unpack the ornaments and say, “I remember this one!”
