Summer is slipping by so quickly – I can’t believe that August is just around the corner this week! It’s time to start thinking seriously about school preparations and everything that goes along with figuring all of that out, but for the moment, I’m going to keep savoring the lighter schedule of the summer…
So today I wanted to slip in a little personal post on what keeps this busy mom halfway pulled together through the summer. If you know anything about the summer in South Florida, you’ll understand why every one of these things travels with me regularly. I strive to use products that are as “all natural” as possible, but it also has to work for me.
SSS Bug Guard Plus – Avon Skin So Soft has worked so awesomely for our family for bug control in the past, and when I started running low, I found out that they offer a whole line of bug sprays now. I love that Avon offers opportunity for women to earn a bit of extra income, so make sure to find a friend to purchase from! If you don’t know someone personally, check with your friends – I’m sure they do! I mentioned it to my sister, and she knew someone right away, and we were all fixed up.
Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in Mint Sorbet – I have to admit, I had my doubts because of the price, but this polish wears well on my toes. It keeps for a week to ten days through my rough wear that includes two days a week running, two days a week swimming. The color is a bit brighter on than in the bottle and I think it’s the perfect mint!
Tom’s of Maine Natural Confidence Deodorant Crystal in Citrus Zest – We average around 100 on the heat index most days for about six months out of the year, so having a great deodorant is so important. I transitioned to an all natural one a few years ago, and was told that it takes your body about 3 months to adjust, so don’t make the switch in the summer. After the transition time, this works magic. While your body adjusts to it, you must carry it to reapply, but it’s totally worth it! I get great protection without the worry of the ingredients in the traditional deodorants.
Aveda Foot Relief – I have used Aveda products since I discovered them in my early twenties, and I have yet to find a product from them that I don’t love. They are one of the few luxury items that I spring for – my master stylist is amazing and I credit her with the fact that I spend VERY little time on my daily routine. The smell of this is amazing (sort of mint, rosemary and ginger rolled into one) and most importantly, it really works. I would say that it actually SAVES me money since I’m not running for a pedicure every few weeks., especially because I’m spending lots of time at the pool and beach, which can be absolute torture on your feet. I’ve been applying it several times a week, and my feet look and feel great.
Coppertone Kids Continuous Spray SPF 50 – You may be shocked to hear this, but this is for me, not our boys. My dad spent years working in cancer treatment, and I never go anywhere without sunscreen. I’m naturally very fair skinned, and the South Florida sun is krytonite for me if I don’t. I tried out this spray last summer, and guess what? No more missed spots! Just toss on your bathing suit and spray away. This has protected me so well, and it’s so much easier than rubbing on a lotion!

Happy Monday!
