I love to read. And I typically have several books going at once. Fantasy fiction, business books, biographies, photography – you name it.
A couple of months ago, I saw Elsie Larson post about reading the book I love your style by Amanda Brooks. I have always been a fan of Elsie, and even though our personal styles differ, I appreciate her willingness to step out and create herself. Not dependent on anyone or anything else, just her.
I loved reading Amanda’s thoughts on fashion, and I felt like they could totally apply across the board to anything that you take on – a business, your scrapbooking/art projects, anything that is an expression of you as a person!
As far as fashion goes, Amanda helped me put a finger on what my personal style is (she has six different ones that she defines: classic, bohemian, minimal, high fashion, eclectic, and street styles), and helped me to see WHAT it is that can help you pull off just about anything. She gives helpful ideas for identifying wardrobe staples (they are different for everyone), and when to turn down an outfit that you’re just not sure about.
Overall it was an easy, enlightening read – even for someone already somewhat aware of fashion do’s and don’t! I’ve already recommended it to my sister who loved it as well!
