My name is Dia, and I am a mother, wife, and photographer. My husband and I have had the honor of professionally photographing weddings since 2006. I love organizing and planning: A goal without a plan is just a dream! I am a FOODIE! (A vegan one!) I LOVE running, beer and wine…they go together, right? What kind of photography do you specialize in or use for your business?
My specialty is wedding photography. I have been photographing weddings for over 12 years with the love of my life, and business partner, Michael. He is the one that encouraged me to pick up a camera and start my own business, so it only makes sense that he is my perfect companion in photography! Together, we get to relive the magic of our own wedding through our clients.
Where are you located and how does your location influence your photography?
Michael and Dia Photography is located in sunny San Diego, CA. We are truly blessed to live and work in America’s Finest City. With its near perfect weather, beautiful beaches, and vibrant city life, we wouldn’t chose to live anywhere else!
What is your favorite part of the photography process?
My favorite part of the photography process is photographing people and making new friends. I love getting to know my clients! Even though I am a bit of an introvert, most of my job is completed sitting alone at a desk. Getting out into the fresh air, and getting to know my clients brings me so much joy!
How do you go out of your way for your clients?
I want all my clients to know that they are important to me, and not just on the day of their shoot, or on the day they booked me. I love to send personalized gifts and thank you’s to show them how much I appreciate them!
Aside from your camera what is one of the most useful photography tools you’ve purchased for your photography/business?
My iMac!!! Having a good, fast computer, is so important to a photographer. Making the initial investment will save you tons of time, money and headaches in the long run.
What’s your favorite thing about your bluebird chic strap?
I have several Blue Bird Chic camera straps that I like to switch between. 99% of my wardrobe is black, so these straps are a major accessory for me. I chose this light and airy strap to stand out against my dark clothing. Not only are my Blu Bird Chic straps gorgeous, they are so comfortable. It’s like having a soft scarf wrapped around you, instead of a stiff seatbelt-like strap. At least one person comments on how beautiful my camera strap is at every wedding! Thank you Blue Bird Chic!
