I’m Kim Hoover. Photographer, wife and mom to 3 little girls who continually inspire me to see life differently. If I’m not lying on the floor or hiding behind furniture capturing their moments, then I’m probably on the lookout for new ideas for capturing others. What kind of photography do you specialize in or use for your business?
I specialize mostly in child and family photography, but I don’t limit myself to just that. I like to branch out and try new things all the time.
What is your favorite part of the photography process?
My most enjoyable experiences include those moments when you deliver a client’s gallery and they are in tears. Those are the moments I never forget.
How would you describe your photography style?
I find my style to be more natural, in the moment.
How do you go out of your way for your clients?
I always follow that saying, “Go the extra mile, it’s never crowded” – and it sticks with me almost every time I need to make a decision.
What is the single best piece of advice you could offer when preparing for a shoot?
There is no way to fully prepare for a session. You definitely need to be able to change things up quickly if it’s not going well. Weather, kids, mood, etc… all unpredictable things.
Aside from your camera what is one of the most useful photography tool(s) you’ve purchased for your business?
Workshops and travel. You learn so much unexpected knowledge when you travel! Not to mention, new things inspire creativity.
What’s your favorite thing about your bluebird chic strap?
I honestly love how it dresses up my look. I typically wear a lot of black, so the fact that it’s a “scarf” adds to any outfit. Plus I’m tall, so I love how much longer it is than the stock strap so that I can move it and wear it cross body quickly when moving around.
