last minute ideas for Christmas

December 24, 2013

Sharing a quick last minute ornament idea that’s easy to pull together from your stash of goods at home.  The diecut doilies from Maya Road are a perfect base to build on – especially since you can just add a loop of twine through a top hole. You can see a little more on the idea on the Maya Road blog.

And even though I had these awesome grand intentions to make my own wrapping paper this year, it didn’t happen.  But this did! I snagged a roll of simple paper at my local fabric shop, wrapped some heavy jute twine around, cut a monogram from this Jenni Bowlin diecut stencil paper, and added tiny wood veneer pieces from various winter themed packs that I had around.

I have  yet to even touch the supplies I ordered to document our December. Let’s just say, there’s been a lot of sickness in our house. And I’m happy to just have shopping done in time. Literally. I was on the phone with ups last night at 11pm trying to track down packages, and since our oldest son’s main gift was mislabeled in shipping, I had to do the old in store pick up today. I have never even been shopping on Christmas Eve, so this is a first. But with a couple of people we know dealing with far worse health conditions, I’m counting my blessings that the worst we’ve had to deal with is stomach flu. And pink eye. And lots of colds. And coughs. It puts things in perspective for you when you see others dealing with far worse things.
