It just so happens to be birthday week here in our home, and having two young boys, we usually rotate between the love of Mario, and you guessed it – Star Wars. After our younger son approached me with an intricately drawn mock up of Darth Vader, I asked for a compromise. After all, I argued, it’s hard for me to spend five hours drawing an icing version of Darth Vader, when you can devour him in just five seconds. This particular version, impressive as it may be, only took an hour and change to pull together. I try to have fun, hit the general mark, and try not to get hung up on being a perfectionist. As you can see from the previous two year’s cakes, I like to cheat by using action figures, chess pieces, or lego mini figures.
I did happen to take step by step photos of how to construct our lego Star Wars death star cake – so I’ll be posting the DIY next week.
And of course, we blew up The Death Star.
