I’d like to start by saying that I don’t diet. I make lifestyle decisions. Sometimes they’re good, and sometimes they’re not. I did the diet thing for lots of years when I was younger. I couldn’t understand why I was a heavy kid, and as I got older I did things that weren’t healthy to get down to a good weight. But that’s a story for another day. The long and short of it is that I’ve learned to live a healthy lifestyle that’s helped me to maintain a good weight for many, many years now.
BUT. That being said, the holidays are super busy for me. Between business needs and extra activities, and lots of rich foods, a good many of my regular healthy habits went down the tube. Oops. Well, not just oops. More like, there are only so many hours in a day. Sigh. Normally I don’t stress about getting back to those healthy habits immediately in the new year, but I have a dress fitting for my brother’s wedding in six weeks. Yikes. So the next few weeks will involve lots of veggies and exercise. If you don’t hear from me, I’ll be back at the track retraining to run a 5k. Or drowning in the water that I’m back to drinking. Or in the potty because I’m drinking so much. (Anyone else deal with that? I’ve got a bladder of steel, but when you’re drinking 8+ glasses per day, it just doesn’t matter. HA!)
I don’t make resolutions. I feel like they’re made to be broken. I do set goals. And action plans. And try not to say that that I’ll do things that I don’t really intend to stick with. Where is this going? One of my goals for 2014 is Project Life. I thought about it a lot. I’ve known about it for a long time. but I was scared to commit. I’m still a little scared. But when I saw how great pocket style scrapbooking was to document our family 5k race in September, I had to take the leap for 2014. I loved being able to add our race bibs and the newspaper clipping of my sister along with our photos.
So I took myself out of my jammies yesterday to the store to grab my basic supplies. Nothing like waiting to the last minute to do what you’ve been thinking about for months, right? I stuck with the midnight edition because I wanted a basic set of journaling cards that were very neutral. I’ll be using the yellow/gold cards only sparingly. I’ve already invested in the 3″x4″ punch so that I can utilize the metric ton of paper in my stash. And rest assured, I won’t be giving up the full size scrapbook pages. I bought inserts to hold those in the same album. I don’t have a “system”, but I’m sure I’ll fall into one as I go. I’m looking forward to working all of that out as I go, and sharing it here with you.
So do you have any big things you’re starting this week? I’m so not into the hype of the new year, but this year that’s kind of how things happened. So here I am. I’d love to see a link to your project life related posts, or goals for the new year!

I’m so with you on so many points in this post. I too make “lifestyle” changes and don’t diet. The only time I considered I was on a “diet” was 2 months before my wedding. I called it the wedding diet. ๐ I’m also starting project life this year. or my version of it. I will not be following along with any pre-made kit. This MAY attribute to any failures, but I like to have freedom. So we’ll see how this adventure goes… I feel behind already.
Best wishes to you and your 2014 goals ๐

So true! And that exactly why I went with the punch! ^_^ I just didn’t want to be digging for journaling cards all the time, here!

You are going to LOVE Project Life. I don’t do it by the week. I do it by the “event” or everyday event for that matter. I am on my FOURTH album for this year and couldn’t be more happy with the amount of my family I was able to capture.
One thing I am making sure to do this year it to USE all my “old” scrapbooking stash. I have fell in love with Sassafras all over again. They will always be my fave.
