What’s summer without a few cocktails? I’ll be honest – I used to be a big lemonade lover, well, sort of. But when I moved to the Miami area, I discovered something that I came to love even more – limeade. Oddly enough, they never had it where I grew up until the last few years when we visit…
This is absolutely a summer favorite – one of the most refreshing drinks I’ve ever made. And super simple! I googled around a bit to figure out what exactly it’s inspired by, and I’ve settled on the Lime Rickey (which is non-alcoholic) and a few of the classic gin cocktails like the Gimlet. Instead of taking the time to make a simple syrup and squeeze fresh lime juice, I sub in a great quality limeade (I use Simply Limeade, which honestly has great flavor by itself.)
Gin & Limeade Cocktail
1.5 oz. gin
2 oz. limeade
.5 oz tonic water
Pour the gin and limeade over plenty of ice and swirl to mix. Top with the tonic water. Garnish with sweet pickled cucumbers and lightly crushed fresh basil. I use a 1 oz shot glass to measure everything to keep it simple.
