I have to admit – my breath caught when I opened the box with the January JBS Mercantile kits this month! It features the beautiful Pantone color of the year: radiant orchid. Add in a couple of my favorites with the black, mint and gold, and it’s the perfect combination to scrapbook winter and January related projects.
I’ll be honest with you. One of my most favorite things that I’ve truly come to understand this past year is the power of choice. Whether you like it or not, you are defined by the choices you make. The coolest things about that, though, is that every day you wake up in the morning, you have the power to change your fate by the choices you make that day. I might try to make it more complicated for myself, and build excuses, but the truth is still there. Want to run a marathon? Start by getting off the couch. It always starts with one step.
At no time in the year is this more evident than New Year’s. Everyone around me is making resolutions, and setting goals, and working to put their best foot forward. I am, too. In fact, we’re starting on some pretty big journeys and making some pretty big decisions this year. And it’s scary, and fulfilling, and awesome.
This is going to be the year of taking the leap for us. How about you? Have something you’ve been thinking about, but putting off? Maybe it’s time to think things through and take the first step toward the new life that you’ve been dreaming about, too!

Beautiful layout Leah! I usually don’t get caught up in the energy surrounding the new year, but 2014 feels different. Can’t wait to hear about your choices this coming year!
