I have always admired Sasha – she’s a woman of faith, family, creativity, and humor. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve scrolled through my facebook feed and seen her honest, ironic, and hilarious posts and just laughed out loud. Her scrapbooking style totally vibes with my own – clean, and great on design with touches of stitching, and splashes of ink. Please, take a moment to stop by her blog and check out her work – I promise, you’ll be inspired!
Today I’m excited to share more about fellow scrapbooker Sasha Farina with all of you!
Sasha Farina lives in Singapore with her husband Sam and her two girls, Neha and Nidhi. They’re the main subjects for her life photography. She is addicted to coffee, candy corn, green smoothies, long walks by the beach, instagram, colors and savory snacks – in no particular order. Sasha has been “making stuff” forever and says, “I’m that girl who can’t seem to leave the stationery/art and craft department.” You can see her work at Sasha Farina. The Blog.
How long have you been a scrapbooker?
I made my first layout on September 5th 2006 and never looked back. You can say I jumped in with both feet and not a day of regret ever since. 🙂
What made you decide to pursue scrapbooking?
I have been interested in photography since I was very young, cameras and film photography wasn’t cheap (to us) then. My very first camera was a reward from my parents for graduating 6th grade with flying colors. I remember saving up money to develop my prints. Those were the days!
As for scrapbooking, let’s be honest, I was attracted to the vast array of pretty products first and I wanted to do something with the photos I’ve taken all these while. As I played with paper, glue and beautiful embellishments, I fell even more in love with scrapbooking. I mean, how could I not? I get to look at photos and reminisce and play with pretty products at the same time!
How has your scrapbooking evolved over the years?
I’d like to think that I get better! My girls are teenagers now and instead of scrapbooking events or trips, I’m scrapbooking more about feelings. I’ve become an emotional scrapper lately. I find it easier to ‘talk’ on my layouts. More of my layouts now include stories but there are still some that were made just because I want to play with new products.
What kind of camera(s) do you own and what role do they play in your life?
Right now, I’m shooting with my old Nikon D90. I take it out at least once a week to take photos around the house, photos of the family and of course, events and trips. I also use my camera to record the growth of my ‘living room farm’ – which is basically some pots near the window in my living room. Currently, I have tomatoes, mint, parsley and lots of basil growing in my living room 🙂
You’ll find Sasha rocking the Skip to My Lou Scarf Camera Strap, which fits perfectly with her love of triangles and her simple, contemporary sense of style.
What do you love most about your bluebird chic strap?
I’m in love with triangles! I’m always hunting for triangles wherever I go. Triangle earrings, triangle charms for my bracelet, triangle pendants etc. So the ‘Skip To My Lou’ scarf strap is right up my alley!
I also like the color red because, well everything else I own is black or grey. That pop of color is just what I need when I go for my winter vacation at the end of the year.
