I’m a thirty-something wife and mother, part-time YA librarian and full-time homeschooling mama trying to carve a little bit of creativity into my everyday. Whether that’s through crafting, art journaling, photography, reading, hiking and spending time outdoors, baking or fashioning fun and interesting outfit combinations…that’s up to the given day! I have an extensive background working within the crafting industry (cardmaking and scrapbooking) and look forward to sharing crafting tips and tricks and my passion of photography while serving as a Bluebird Chic Ambassador! To learn more about me be sure to check out my personal blog at Live.Life.Create.Art or my homeschooling blog at Learning at Home with Me.
How long have you been scrapbooking?
I have been scrapbooking and papercrafting since I got married in 2003. I walked into a scrapbook store for the first time when I was working on some simple wedding favors for our reception and was in complete awe at the rows and rows of scrapbooking supplies!
What made you decide to pursue scrapbooking?
After getting married and then having a our first child I was a SAHM at which time I discovered blogging and found that I enjoyed writing and sharing my pictures in that realm immensely. I found many other like-minded women in the scrapbooking and papercrafting industry that way and realized that networking and forming relationships was very easy to do within this crafting community. I began to seriously pursue scrapbooking as something to do more than just a hobby…I wanted to have a reason to “have to” do this thing that I loved.
How has your scrapbooking evolved over the years?
Throughout the years I’ve dabbled in working with scrapbooking manufacturers on the designing side of things and have had fun creating projects using their products for craft shows, (such as CHA). My projects would be on display at these shows in hopes that independent store owners or buyers would want to buy different collections of supplies for their stores to sell based on what was on display. Some of my projects were in catalogs (for the same purpose) and/or sold to people as project kits at crafting events or used as make-n-takes. I also have enjoyed working for different scrapbooking kit clubs at different points in time throughout the years. Currently, I am designing for Cocoa Daisy. I love sharing ideas and projects with others in this way and getting to use some of the industry’s most current collections of arts and craft supplies. Back when magazines were more prevalent, I submitted projects and was published in several publications that were popular for hobbyists at that time.
What is the best part of being a scrapbooker?
The best part of scrapbooking for me is that I’m documenting my story and preserving memories in the process. I love that I am the memory keeper in my family!
What kind of camera(s) do you own and what role does it play in your life?
I have a pretty simple and basic camera but I love it! It’s a Sony DSLR and I currently own 4 different lenses to use with it. It’s perfect for what my purpose is!
What’s your favorite thing about your bluebird chic strap?
Lately I’ve really been loving floral prints and color! This strap has both! I love that it makes me feel a little bit unique and that it turns my camera into not only a tool but an accessory to everyday living…which is perfect for someone who enjoys capturing the everyday.
