This week’s ambassador spotlight shines a light on Marcie Cheung of Marcie in Mommyland. Read on to find out more about Marcie, see some of her work, and find out which bluebird chic strap is her personal favorite! (For this week, her pick will be available at a discounted rate in the shop.)
I’m Marcie and I created my blog Marcie in Mommyland to help guide families who want to travel with small children. As a Seattle-area mom of a 4-year-old and 1-year-old, I know how challenging it can be. Travel is very important to our family and we make it a priority to expose our kids to a variety of activities and cultures. It’s been a blast for our family because it has slowed down our pace and we’ve noticed new things in places we frequent. It’s so much fun to write about our adventures and get inspired to explore new places! We recently explored Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Disneyland Paris, Disneyland California, Vancouver, Portland, San Juan Islands, Maui, and Kauai!
How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been a family travel blogger since April 2016.
What made you decide to pursue blogging?
We’ve been traveling since my oldest was 6 months old. I had so many friends/family members ask for my advice on where to travel with babies, what to pack, how to manage the flight, etc. People kept telling me how “brave” I was to travel with small kids. I realized that a lot of my friends were scared to take their kids anywhere. So, I created my blog to show how our family travels and give advice for other families. I’ve been getting such good feedback from other families about how my blog has inspired them to travel a bit further than they normally would and try new activities with their kids.
How has your blogging evolved over the years?
I used to write more of a narrative about all our trips, which was fun to write but not very helpful to my readers. Now, I make sure to end most of my posts with bullet points of my recommendations. I also focus on what gear they should check out.
What kind of camera do you own and what role does it play in your life?
I own a Sony NEX-5R. Since I can hold it with just one hand, I take it on both local and international family trips. My husband likes to take photos of landscapes, while I focus on photos of my family with the landscape in the background.
What’s your favorite thing about your bluebird chic strap?
I love my bluebird chic camera strap because it’s so soft and feminine. I don’t like wearing heavy, bulking items, so I feel light and free to chase after my kids and capture their energy!
