Hi there! My name is Monisa Dobbins of Monisa J. Photography! I’m a natural light photographer specializing in capturing authentic moments of families, couples, and anyone awesome enough to book a session! Photography has always been a love of mine, but just recently I turned this hobby into a business. I was born and raised in the sooiet state of Arkansas (woo pig!). However, being an army wife, home is currently in the gorgeous country of Italy. My Nikon and Sigma lens are always with me! If it’s not clients I’m capturing adventures with my handsome husband and my sweet 4-month old! As long as I have life’s essentials (the good Lord, family, & my camera) my heart is bursting at the seams! And food. Food makes me happy, too.
What kind of photography do you specialize in or use for your business?
I specialize in capturing love. Whether it’s the love a mama-to-be has for her sweet little one growing inside her, the couples who are head over heels in love during their engagement session or wedding, or the love between parents as they chase their little ones around during a family session! I live for those real candid moments and genuine connection felt between my clients.
What is your favorite part of the photography process?
My favorite part is definitely interacting with the clients. I’ve had clients turn into friends and it’s an incredible feeling to still be in contact with someone who trusted you in capturing their most precious moments.
How would you describe your photography style?
Warm…rich…maybe a little moody
How do you go out of your way for your clients?
I feel the best way to offer a unique experience is through getting to know my clients. What activities they enjoy doing, what their favorite restaurant is, what it is that makes them laugh! Meeting them for coffee and talking about their vision for the session is so important. Offering wardrobe guidance is also important in make sure the session is successful.
Aside from your camera what is one of the most useful photography tool(s) you’ve purchased for your business?
Adobe Lightroom for sure. This is where majority of my editing takes place! There’s a ton of tools that help to bring my vision to life.
What’s your favorite thing about your bluebird chic strap?
It’s so durable and soft. The scarf style has always been my favorite. It makes it easy to keep my camera hanging in front or swing it to the back.
My old strap was the factory Nikon strap that came with my camera. It wasn’t stylish or commutable by any means. My Bluebird Chic strap is a complete change in the best way.
I love earthy tones and this olive green floral strap is stunning and fits my style perfectly.
