Happy Mother’s Day!
I’ve been thinking a lot about what being a mother means to me and this weekend was the perfect time to share those thoughts and to pass on a special gift to one lucky momma. I’ve also asked a couple of my favorite business owners – Bonnie Christine and Jess Mutty who are also moms – to join me.
I have so much admiration and respect for these two ladies because I know firsthand just what it takes to be a mom and run your own business.
Please take the time to find out what being a mom means to them, check out their businesses and enter the to win our Mother’s Day Prize Bundle below!

What does being a mother mean to me?
Being a mother means constant movement, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Children uproot your heart and your world in a tornado from the moment they arrive and, so far, the tornado just keeps on spinning! I find myself always evaluating, re-righting, and steering my kids and myself towards our goals, discipline, growth and happiness. Just when I think we have something figured out there is a twist that means I am back to trying to discover a new, better way of doing things. As a goal-oriented person I love the challenge, but I will admit it’s exhausting! The great part is that the love, sweetness, and overwhelming pride that comes with all that effort is more awe-inspiring and fulfilling than anything else I’ve experienced. My kids are my joy and my true passion.

What does being a mother mean to you?
Many things come to mind when someone says ‘mother’, most of them assigned to the many duties and tasks a mother has. For me, mother represents the act of mothering. It’s in the small acts of snuggles, gentle wakings, wiping of tears and words of encouragement that really make mothering the most beautiful thing I will ever do in my life.

What impact do you want your business to have on others?
Over the years this has definitely evolved for me. It’s such a BIG thing that it’s tough to encapsulate into a few sentences, but I’m going to give it a shot. Being a mother, to me, means working to be my best self. I think it’s easy for me to get caught up in the pressures and gravity of bringing up other human beings, but ultimately, if I’m working on myself, I’ll make the right choices for them. If I’m taking care of myself, I’ll be able to better care for them. If I’m pursuing my joy, I’ll be able to help them pursue theirs. If I’m working to learn, grow, and evolve as a person, they will naturally follow. I used to think that there are all kinds of do’s and don’t to raising kids. Now, I’d distill it down to: healthy parents raise healthy kids.
